The Foundation seeks to fund projects that support the conservation of modern architecture in its Keeping It Modern Initiative. The Foundation awards both Planning and Implementation grants. Planning grants are awarded for research and planning projects focused on significant 20th century buildings and involving practitioners from multiple disciplines. They may include research on historical documentation; research on the historic fabric of the building; physical analysis and testing of original materials used in construction of the building; the development and testing of technical solutions; and/or the preparation of technical drawings, budget estimates, and schedules of work. These grants may also be used for the development of comprehensive management plans for cyclical maintenance and long-term care of the building. Implementation grants are awarded in support of exceptional projects related to internationally recognized buildings that will advance the conservation of modern architecture in significant ways and have the potential to serve as models for the conservation of other 20th century buildings. Details about the program and other information can be found on the Web site.
