Description

The Foundation, founded in 2000, focuses its grantmaking on improving the lives of children and youth. Grants are awarded to support three critical transitions: early learning, middle school out-of-school time programming, and career pathways. Early learning grants support efforts to build a network of high-quality early learning options through the city of Philadelphia to increase the percentage of children who achieve reading proficiency by third grade. Middle school grants aim to increase the number of middle-school students connected to high-quality learning experiences that provide career exposure, strengthen social and emotional health, and build 21st century skills, with the goal of facilitating a positive transition from middle to high school. Career pathways grants seek to increase the number of high-quality career pathway options that prepare youth and young adults for, and connect them to, the workforce, with the goal of enabling them to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities, needed to positively transition into the local and regional economy. General operating grants and programs grants in early learning and career pathways are initiated by invitation only. Organizations interested in submitting a letter of intent for a middle school out-of-school time program grant or for a Founder’s Grant should following the instructions on the Web site. General operating, Program, and Founder’s grants are awarded only to organizations providing services in Philadelphia.
