American Society For Plant Biology Education Foundation

Description

The Foundation is accepting proposals from members of the Society for education and outreach activities that advance knowledge and appreciation of plant biology. Funded projects enrich and promote youth, student, and the general public’s understanding of the importance of plants. Projects can include, but are not limited to, including the use of plants for sustainable production of medicine, food, fibers, and fuel and the critical role plants play in sustaining functional ecosystems in changing environments. Also of interest are the latest developments in plant biotechnologies including genetic modifications that improve the quality and disease- and stress-resistance of crops and discoveries made in plants that have led to improved human health and well-being; as well as careers related to plant biology. To be eligible, the project’s manager must be a current member of ASPB. Applications will be accepted starting Feb. 1, 2014. Program details and additional information can be found on the Web site.
