Description

The Foundation’s mission is to promote the transition to a sustainable energy future by advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy in the United States and China. The Foundation awards grants in the following areas: power, buildings, transportation, climate, and China sustainable energy program. Power grants works to reduce carbon emissions from the electric and gas utility industry by advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy and by reducing power generation from conventional coal-fired power plants. Buildings grants support policies to increase the efficiency of U.S. homes and businesses and to reduce carbon emissions and utility bills. Transportation grants support advanced vehicle technologies as well as the growth of nonpetroleum transportation fuels like electricity, hydrogen, and sustainable biofuels. Climate grants help promote understanding of the diverse ways in which climate change will affect the U.S. and to advance policy solutions at the state and national levels. The climate grant portfolio includes organizations from a wide range of fields including national security, business, labor, faith, agriculture, and conservation.
