The Clorox Company Foundation

Description

The Foundation focuses its grantmaking primarily on organizations located in the Company’s headquarters community of Oakland, Calif. Funding is targeted at two areas: education/youth development and culture/civic programs. Education/youth development grants help to prepare young people to participate successfully in an increasingly global society and to contribute back to the communities in which they live. Targeted programs strive to improve children’s academic performance especially in literacy and math; promote youth for community leadership; and promote positive relationships among youth from diverse cultural and ethnic groups. Culture/civic programs support programs that advance civic and cultural initiatives as well as projects that increase awareness of, participation in, and appreciation of, arts and culture. The Foundation also funds an Arts Mini-Grants Initiative, which provides small grants to assist Oakland’s nonprofit cultural community. Each year, the Foundation awards 25 $1,000 grants for visual and performing arts events. Application deadlines are January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 annually. Applications may be submitted online, by e-mail, or by mail. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
