Description

The Fund was created with four New England foundations met in 1996 to examine environmental priorities. As both a Funders/Activists’ collaborative and a community network builder, the Fund’s mission is to energize and nurture long-term civic engagement in local initiatives that create and maintain healthy, just, safe, and environmentally sustainable communities. The Fund offers grant programs designed to foster grassroots environmental initiatives in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Its small grants program provides grants up to $2,500 to support community involvement in projects that address a wide range of environmental issues throughout New England. Grants for its Boston Grants Initiative, the Fund’s urban grants program range from $500 to $10,000. Urban grants support environmental justice, environmental health, greenspace, and other environmental projects in the neighborhoods of Boston, Chelsea, Somerville, and Cambridge, Mass. The Fund invests in constituencies from rural, suburban, and urban areas working on a wide range of projects. Additional information including contacts for various programs can be found on the Web site.
