DescriptionThe Foundation was created in 1981 to honor musician Harry Chapin. The Foundation’s mission is to make a difference in communities around the country. It does this by funding organizations that have demonstrated their ability to dramatically improve the lives and livelihood of people by helping them become self-sufficient. Grants are focused on three areas: community education programs, arts-in-education programs, and agriculture and environmental programs. The Foundation meets three times a year.
