DescriptionThe Fund, a virtual nonprofit run by entrepreneurs, has as its strategy to markedly increase the rate of innovation and dissemination of enterprise-based solutions to poverty. Through targeted investment that fosters leadership, the Fund believes that such solutions already exist but aren’t sufficiently studied, analyzed, and exhibited as examples. The Fund’s third annual Open Enterprise Solutions to Poverty request for proposals focuses on academic and scientific research in the field of enterprise-based solutions to poverty. Research should focus on the integration of intellectual ideas at the level of thought leader and practitioner. The RFP outlines four goals: 1) to expand scientific inquiry to include disciplines fundamental to a deep understanding of entrepreneurship and economic development currently unsupported by traditional grant sources; 2) to forge and maintain useful collaborations between researchers and on-the-ground actors of enterprise-based solutions to poverty; 3) to provide the public with a deeper understanding of this area and its potential implications; and 4) to find, research, and analyze role-model entrepreneurs and companies whose lessons may inspire others. Anyone may submit an initial proposal in order to compete for a grant. Additional information including an online application can be found on the Web site.
