F.m. Kirby Foundation

Category

: General

Description

The Foundation was created from the estate of Fred Morgan Kirby, one of the founders of the F.W. Woolworth Company. Grants are awarded to a wide range of organizations in education, health and medicine, arts and humanities, civic and public affairs, as well as religious, welfare, and youth organizations. Churches, hospitals, schools and colleges, other than those attended or used by members of the family are unlikely to receive support. The Foundation also does not fund community service organizations, drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs, volunteer service programs, youth, and other local organizations outside of geographic areas of particular interest. While the Foundation prioritizes its grants to geographic areas of interest to five generations of Kirby family members, successful new applicants tend to be organizations already well-known to one or more of the Foundation’s directors and/or other members of the family. The Foundation supports a number of national medical research and service organizations and public policy organizations that fit the Foundation’s fundamental beliefs. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
