Description

The Foundation supports nonprofits dedicated to improving the economic, physical, and social health of the communities served by the Company’s business interests in Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Grants are made in the following categories: civic and community development, culture and the arts, education, the environment, and health and human services. Civic and community development grants work with communities to improve the amenities that make a place livable while helping to create an environment for new business development. Grants in culture and the arts support a wide range of cultural activities including art, music, theater, dance, libraries, parks, and museums. These entities play a key role in improving the quality of life within the communities the company serves. Education grants support a wide range of innovative educational programs. The Foundation also conducts a competitive grants program providing elementary and secondary educators with the tools they need to revitalize math and science education. Environment grants support environmental stewardship and education. Health and human services grants are awarded to organizations that assist in improving the quality of life in Dominion communities.
