DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Washington Companies, which includes heavy equipment, mining, aviation, transportation, and real estate in its portfolio. The Foundation supports a broad spectrum of causes benefiting people of all ages and is especially interested in education, health and human services, arts and culture, and community service. The majority of the Foundation’s grantmaking is targeted toward organizations in Montana and surrounding states (the Pacific Northwest and western Canada) where Washington Companies are located. Funding priorities include direct service, youth oriented programs, and the advancement of educational opportunities through higher education scholarships in Montana. The Foundation also funds projects addressing the needs of economically and socially disadvantaged people, troubled or at-risk youth, and individuals with special needs. An eligibility review and preliminary application form as well as other information are available on the Web site.
