Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Do we need to be a registered nonprofit
organization in order to join? Is 501(c)(3) status a
requirement?
A. 501(c)(3)
status is not required to become a member of the
Society. We welcome all individuals with an interest in the nonprofit sector, including - but not limited to - nonprofit staff, board members, consultants, students, retirees, etc.
Q. How long will it take to get my
login/password?
A. Online membership applications are processed automatically, so you should receive login information via email within 5-10 minutes after submitting your payment. Membership applications received by mail require manual processing, and it can take 2-3 business days from the date of receipt to send login information. If you do not receive your login information or experience any problems, please call us at
734-451-3582.
Q. When will I receive my first issue? A.
Nonprofit World magazine is published quarterly. Funding Alert is published on a monthly
basis. Therefore, it may take several weeks to receive your first issue of Funding Alert and up to 3 months to receive your first issue of Nonprofit World (depending on when the last
issue was sent out). If you want to get started
right away, you can view the most recent issue of both
publications in the Members Only section. Q.
What is included in the Members Only section? A.
The Members Only section features a library of
Nonprofit World magazine (from 1996+) and Funding Alert (from
2001+). The Nonprofit World library is searchable
by category, title, author and date of publication.
Q.
How safe is it to pay online by credit card? A.
The Society for Nonprofits takes the issue
of security very seriously. We use 128 bit SSL
encryption with Thawte digital certificates. This
level of encryption is the strongest commercially
available level, and is used to protect your information
as it crosses the Internet. Nevertheless, we
understand that people are still skeptical about the
Internet. You are more than welcome to submit your
membership application by mail/fax. We have
provided a PDF form that you can print off and send in
for those that prefer this method. Q.
My question has not been answered here. What
should I do? A. If your question is
still unanswered, please submit your question through
our feedback form or by
calling 734-451-3582. We want to make sure that
you feel comfortable in becoming a member. We will
do everything possible to get back with you ASAP. |
