DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the diversified Company. It is committed to serving the diverse communities in which employees call home and where it does business. The Foundation focuses its grantmaking primarily on education. It believes that a quality education ushers in a lifetime of opportunity, which helps build a strong and diverse workforce and citizenry. The Foundation supports high-impact initiatives that improve the access, equity, and quality of public education in GE communities throughout the world. It has launched a $100 million investment to improve student achievement and increase college-readiness across targeted school districts. It also supports entrepreneurship and employment training for youth in Indonesia, and rebuilding efforts in Southeast Asia as a result of the tsunami. The Foundation does not encourage unsolicited proposals. Letters of inquiry are accepted. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
