The Getty Foundation
Category: Arts & Culture
DescriptionThe Foundation focuses its grantmaking on the visual arts. The museum conservation grants are designed to assist institutions in caring for their permanent collections. To be eligible, projects must extend beyond the proposed treatment to include a significant interdisciplinary research component. Of particular interest are projects that reveal new information regarding materials, manufacture, or historical context. All proposals must include a plan to disseminate findings and are strongly encouraged to include training opportunities for museum staff or conservation interns. Normally, grants don’t support the conservation of works in preparation for temporary or traveling exhibitions. Additional information is available on the Web site.
