Prudential Spirit Of Community Awards

Category

: Children, Youth & Families

Description

The Award, a partnership between Prudential Financial and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young people in middle and high schools for outstanding volunteer service to their communities. Each fall, applications are solicited from 40,000 public and private schools as well as through officially designated local organizations such as the Girl Scouts, 4-H clubs, American Red Cross chapters, and YMCAs. In November, local honorees are selected at participating schools and organizations and from these winners, two State Honorees are chosen from each state and the District of Columbia. Then a panel of national judges picks 10 National Honorees. Local Honorees win a certificate of recognition. State Honorees receive $1,000, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. for national recognition events. National Honorees receive additional awards of $5,000, engraved gold medallions, crystal trophies for their schools or organizations, and $5,000 grants from The Prudential Foundation for the nonprofit organization of their choice. Additional information including an application form is available on the Web site. The deadline is for student applications.
