Description

The Foundation makes grants to “individuals and groups committed to developing a more just, caring, ecological, and sustainable world, in which people have a greater ability and opportunity to determine directions for the future.” Grants are awarded in three areas: the environment, social, and Jewish/Israel. Environment grants address the protection of ecosystems and biodiversity; alternative agriculture and green economic development; and breaking the link between resource extraction, civil and international conflict, and markets. Social grants are awarded for programs promoting a more democratic, equitable, just, and rewarding society. Social grants address peace issues, civil and human rights, alternative media and education, and youth leadership. Jewish/Israel grants support Jewish culture, religion, and spirituality; Yiddish; and environmental issues in Israel. Funded activities include public education, organization building, and advocacy. Materials sent by fax are not accepted.
