DescriptionThe Fund, established in 1963, is named for the former publisher of The Washington Post. The Fund’s mission, not surprisingly, is to use its resources for the betterment of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, and to support activities that foster improvements in the field of journalism and communications. Other areas of interest include arts and humanities, community endeavors, education, and health and human services. The majority of grants are made to organizations located in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. A proposal letter should be no longer than 10 pages and signed by the organization’s CEO. The Fund requests an unstapled original and two copies of the letter and required attachments.
