Description

The Foundation believes that every person has the potential and deserves the opportunity to lead a happy and productive life. The Foundation believes that education is the key to that. Grants are awarded in the following areas: K-12 Education Reform; Human Services, and Civic, Community & Arts. Education Reform grants seek out and invests in opportunities that alter the perception of what is possible for all children. These opportunities include high quality public charter schools; programs to ensure that every child has access to effective and diverse teachers and school leaders; and organizations that provide parents with the information, tools, and know-how to ensure that their children receive a quality education. Human Services grants support programs that work to alleviate human suffering, help families and individuals break the cycle of poverty; and give people a fair shot at creating their own success. Civic, Community, & Arts grants are often based on the interests of individual trustees and/or emerging needs and opportunities to strengthen local communities in the San Francisco Bay area. With the Human Services and the Civic, Community & Arts grants, the Foundation focuses most of its grantmaking to organizations and communities in the San Francisco Bay area.
