John William Pope Foundation

: Public Policy

Description

Founded by the owner of Variety Wholesalers Inc., a supplier to discount variety stores, the Foundation's approach to grantmaking is about investing in people: enriching lives while strengthening the foundations of a free and prosperous society. The Foundation makes grants to improve the well-being of North Carolinians by advancing the idea of limited government, individual freedom, personal responsibility, and strong communities. The Foundation approaches its grantmaking in two ways: through grants that have lasting implications for a free and prosperous society and grants that meet immediate societal needs. Grant priorities are: public policy, education, human services, and the arts. Public policy grants support public policy research that defends the American tradition of a free- market economy under the rule of law. The Foundation prioritizes organizations that advance free-market principles and do work that impacts North Carolina public policy. There are no geographic restrictions for the public policy grants. The deadline is for the public policy and higher education grants; other programs have different deadline dates. Visit the Web site for additional information and application instructions.
