Description

Formerly known as Aroha Philanthropies (from the Māori word conveying ideas of selflessness, tolerance, kindness, and compassion), the Philanthropy seeks to champion programs that break barriers, build community, and spark creativity. The Philanthropy's mission is to awaken creative expression and build communities through the arts. The Philanthropy supports programs and advocacy nationwide that focuses on older adults and creativity. The Philanthropy's Vitality Arts Program supports programs and projects that offer older adults (age 55 and older) the chance to learn an art form while developing new connections with others and achieving new accomplishments. The Philanthropy also supports two Minnesota-only grant programs, Discovery Arts (for children and youth) and Humanity Arts (for adults with mental illness).
