Center For Health, Environment And Justice

Category

: Environment

Description

The Center was founded by one of the women living in the environmental toxic Love Canal community. The Center's mission is to prevent harm to human health by providing technical and organizing support to individuals and communities facing a toxic hazard. In 2016, the Center became a project of the People's Action Institute, adding power, programs, and resources to a movement of millions that captures the rising demand for societal change. The Center's Small Grants Program for grassroots groups working on environmental health and justice issues supports projects that help groups move toward their goals by building leadership, increasing capacity, or providing training and education. The Program is designed to reach people from low-wealth communities and communities of color who are impacted by environmental harms. The Center prioritizes community-based organizations aiming to have local, state, and regional impact as the core of the health and environmental justice movement. Additional information including application instructions and potential funding activities can be found on the Web site.
