DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the publishing Company. It focuses its grantmaking on the following areas: arts and culture, education, and human services. Arts and culture grants seek to ensure that the arts are accessible to all residents, including children, the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged, and help art organizations build audiences and market their programs. Education grants focus on specific journalism schools, particularly those with strong magazine programs. The Foundation may also fund select graphic design and business programs. Human services grants are focused on nonprofits within the Des Moines, Iowa community. All requests for funding must be submitted in writing. The majority of the Foundation’s giving is focused on the Des Moines, Iowa community. Details on how to submit a request and additional information can be found on the Web site.
