DescriptionThe Foundations’ work to build vibrant and tolerant societies whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people. The Foundations’ National Security and Human Rights Campaign provides grants to U.S.-based nonprofits working to promote progressive national security policies that respect human rights, civil liberties, and the rule of law. Priorities revolve around promoting new thinking, engaging new voices and constituencies, and strengthening the capacity of and collaboration among organizations engaged in national security issues. Funding is provided for projects that address one or more of the policy goals through at least one of the following strategies: public advocacy, grassroots organizing and field building, mobilization of new voices and constituencies, scholarship and research, communications, and litigation.
