DescriptionThe Foundation is a private family foundation established by Tom and Susan Ford in 1995. The Foundation focuses its giving on promising and proven nonprofits working to strengthen families and preserve the natural environment. Grants are awarded in the following areas: Alleviating Poverty, Preserving and Protecting the Environment, and Capital Needs. Priority is given to applications that strengthen families and preserve the environment and that work at pivotal points when the greatest opportunity for transformational change exists. The Foundation focuses on the following values: compassion, creativity, nimbleness, and optimism. Primary emphasis is given to nonprofits in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
