The Wallace Genetic Foundation
Category: Environment
DescriptionFounded by Henry A. Wallace, the creator of the Pioneer Hi-Bred Corn Company, the Foundation provides grants to nonprofits nationwide that believe in the long-term conservation of the soil and the environment rather than the exploitation of natural resources for temporary profits. Grants are awarded in the following areas of interest: sustainable agriculture; protection of farmland near cities; conservation of natural resources; biodiversity protection; reduction of environmental toxins; and global climate issues. Of particular interest are far-sighted groups and individuals with innovative ideas. All letters of inquiry and proposals should be submitted in hard copy. No faxed or e-mail letters of inquiry or proposals will be accepted. Some additional information can be found on the Web site.
