DescriptionThe Foundation, created with funding from the founder of Longs Drug Store chain, provides support to organizations located in the state of Hawaii as well as those located in the Northern California counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, Solano, and Sonoma. Grants are awarded to projects and programs in arts and culture, education, conservation, health, and human services. Beginning in 2012, the Foundation will begin accepting proposals on a continuous basis throughout the year and expand the number of grant cycles annually, from two to four. The deadline dates are available on the Web site. The Foundation’s Letter of Inquiry requirement will be discontinued. Applicants will have to self-qualify based upon eligibility criteria outline in the Web site’s grant guideline section.
