Description

The Bank’s Blue Water Project is a 10-year, $50 million philanthropic commitment to support organizations committed to watershed protection and access to safe drinking water. Since 2007, the start of the program, the Bank has committed more than $32 million in single and multi-year grants to over 450 organizations. The project’s Leadership Grant program supports watershed protection projects and programs that focus on the protection and restoration of sensitive natural areas, community-based watershed stewardship, sustainable water use and conservation, or watershed awareness. Drinking water programs and projects should focus on making sure communities have access to clean, safe drinking water, when and where it’s needed. The Leadership Grant program supports projects in any of the regions in which the Bank has branches including Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, and the British Isles. In addition to the Leadership Grants, the Bank offers Blue Water Community Action Grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for watershed protection efforts by local and community nonprofits (including schools) in Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean. These grants are intended to support grassroots initiatives to improve water resources in the community or region, and to help educate children, youth, and others in the community about the importance of watersheds. Additional information including an online application can be found on the Web site.
