Description

The Fund grantmaking focuses on restoring and protecting the natural environment and ensuring a healthy planet for generations to come. It also seeks to strengthen the social fabric and the physical landscape of the urban community. The Fund’s Sustaining Our Environment program seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to create policies for sustainable production practices. The Fund’s priority areas are: promoting energy efficiency; conserving ecologically valuable land; and making paper production sustainable. Energy efficiency grants support state and regional policies in the Northeast and Southeast United States that provide incentives and subsidies for energy efficiency implementation. Grants for ecologically valuable land conservation are provided for land conservation in the Southeast United States (Southern Appalachians and the states of Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia). Paper production grants are awarded for projects that increase the rates of recycled paper in large paper sectors, those that reduce sourcing from endangered forests, and those that maximize clean production. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
