Description

The insurance Companies Foundation's grants program strives to meet the needs of communities in the United States and Canada. It does this by supporting nonprofits, educational institutions, and government agencies that address safety, community development, or education. Funding under the safety category is directed toward auto and roadway safety, home safety and fire preparedness, disaster preparedness, disaster recovery, and personal financial safety/security. Community development grants support programs that focus on affordable housing, first-time homeowners, community revitalization, and economic development. The Companies’ funds three types of grants for K-12 public schools: teacher development, service-learning, and systemic improvement. There is also very limited funding available to meet community-based needs. The Foundation’s grant cycle runs from January 2 through Oct. 31. Additional information including an online application form can be found on the Web site.
