John R. Mccune Charitable Trust
Category: Regional
DescriptionThe Trust seeks to support organizations focused on health care, social services, and education. The Trust also awards grants to Presbyterian-related organizations. Priority is given to proposals that demonstrate the greatest chance of achieving measurable results in the areas of creating economic opportunities, preparing young people for the workforce, and building healthy and economically viable communities to attract people to the city and the region. Given the current economic climate, the Trust is placing less emphasis on capital campaign requests unless they directly address improvements (and not necessarily expansion) to an organization’s current mission and operations. The Distribution Committee typically meets four times a year. The Trust concentrates its giving in southwestern Pennsylvania but has recently expanded its focus to organizations in Rhode Island, New Mexico, Connecticut, Oklahoma, and Texas. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
