Description

The mission of the Organization is to keep family farmers throughout the United States on their land. Farm Aid supports organizations that work to maintain a family farm system of agriculture and that promote solutions to challenges facing rural communities. Grant categories are: Growing the Good Food Movement, which focuses on local, organic, or humanely raised food; Helping Farmers Thrive, which helps farmers transition to more sustainable and profitable farming practices, find alternative markets, start a new farming organization, or provide services to farm families in crisis; and Taking Action to Change the System, which promotes fair farm policies and grassroots campaigns to defend and bolster family farm-centered agriculture. Grants are awarded in late December and proposals must be postmarked no later than August 1st of any given year to be considered in that year’s grant round. Additional information including a template for applying is available on the Web site.
