Bikes Belong Coalition

Category

: Sports

Description

The Coalition, sponsored by the American bicycle industry, strives to put more people on bicycles more often by funding important and influential projects that leverage federal funding and build momentum for bicycling in communities across the United States. These projects include bike paths, lanes, and routes, as well as bike parks, mountain bike trails, BMX facilities, and large-scale bicycle advocacy initiatives. The Coalition will accept requests for funding of up to $10,000 for its two interests: facility and advocacy. Facility grants are bicycle and/or trail specific. Advocacy grants are for organizations whose primary mission is bicycle advocacy. Applicants need to note that the Coalition looks at leverage and funding partnerships very carefully and will not consider grant requests in which it’s listed as the sole funder. Proposals should encourage ridership growth, support bicycle advocacy, promote bicycling, build political support, leverage funding, and serve diverse regions/populations. Priority is given to bicycle organizations, coalitions, and associations, particularly those who have not received Bikes Belong funding in the past and projects that build coalitions for bicycling by collaborating the efforts of the industry with advocacy. Additional information including an online application is available on the Web site.
