: Public Policy

Description

The Foundation supports efforts to ensure fundamental rights and opportunities for people in need. It looks for carefully defined points where its funds can make a difference in bringing about systemic changes that can improve the lives of people. The Foundation currently focuses on three areas: Criminal and Juvenile Justice, Health Reform, and Workers’ Rights. Under the Criminal and Juvenile Justice program, the priority for 2009 is to reduce the rates of incarceration and decrease prison populations. Under Health Reform, the Foundation seeks to foster the development of strong systems of advocacy with expertise in health policy. With Workers’ Rights, the Foundation supports organizations that are trying to improve the lives of working people by ensuring their basic legal rights to safe, healthy, and fair conditions at work. Online letters of inquiry should be submitted six to eight weeks before the proposal deadline listed above.
