Description

The Foundation focuses its grantmaking on the areas of arts and culture, health and human services, and civil liberty and social justice. The Foundation’s mission is to support innovative efforts that make social organizations and institutions more effective and more responsive to a broad range of human needs. The Foundation’s interests include, but are not limited to, public health and sanitation; education; support for new media; preservation of traditional and local artisans and their economies; AIDS and its effects on society’s institutions; and at-risk children and their families. The Foundation also has a long-standing commitment to the promotion and celebration of Himalayan art. The Foundation primarily makes grants to organizations located in the New York City metropolitan area and the Himalayan region. A one-page letter of inquiry is required before submitting a grant application. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
