Description

The Foundation makes grants to qualified charitable organizations whose initiatives improve the quality of life, with an emphasis on strengthening youth and families. Initiatives must also reflect the philosophy of the Foundation’s founder, Catherine B. Hickox. Applications from organizations in health, welfare, education, cultural activities, and civic affairs are of interest. The organizations should primarily serve the metropolitan areas of Chicago (requests for funding will not be accepted unless initiated by the Foundation) New York, and Michigan City, Ind. Before submitting a request, the Foundation encourages a brief letter or phone call to determine if the organization falls within the Foundation’s current general policy. The Foundation board meets twice a year. The deadlines are Feb. 1 for the spring meeting and Aug. 1 for the fall meeting.
