Description

The Foundation’s mission is to foster human and ecological security by addressing contemporary threats to these “inalienable rights.” The Foundation envisions a world in which humans live in harmony with each other and in sustainable balance with the earth. To meet this goal, the Foundation focuses most of its grantmaking in the areas of peace and security, environment and sustainability, and population and reproductive health. It’s particularly interested in projects that explore the interconnections between these categories. The peace and security program seeks to promote peace by addressing the need for new policies and practices to provide for human safety in regions of armed conflict. The environment and sustainability program seeks a balanced and healthy relationship between humans, other life, and the planet. Under this category, the Foundation focuses much of its grantmaking toward projects located in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, and Wyoming. In the population and reproductive health program, the Foundation targets its efforts on national reproductive health policy in the United States. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
