Butler-cooley Excellence In Teaching Awards Program

Category

: Education

Description

Established in 2004, the Program is funded by a five-year grant from the John William Butler Foundation, Inc. It is named in honor of Leslie Bender Butler and Cindy Butler Cooley, who have collectively spent more than 50 years as active teachers, shaping and influencing the lives of children in their communities. Administered by the Turnaround Management Association, an international association dedicated to corporate renewal and turnaround management, the program honors classroom teachers who have changed the outcome of students’ lives and the communities in which they live. Nominees must be a currently licensed, active elementary or secondary school teacher with at least five years of teaching experience. They must teach at an accredited public or private school and have spent the equivalent of 20 hours per week (based on a 9-month academic calendar year) for at least five of the prior seven years actively engaged in teaching. Additional information is available on the Web site. Entries may be submitted via e-mail or U.S. mail.
