Paul Rapoport Foundation
Category: Regional
DescriptionThe Foundation’s primary goal is to support organizations that provide social services, advocacy and community empowerment to and for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. HIV/AIDS remains a strong area of interest but only as it specifically intersects with the LGBT community. Funding is directed primarily within the five boroughs of New York City as well as on Long Island, in Westchester, and in New Jersey. The Foundation only funds national organizations when they request funding for programs specific to the New York metropolitan area. Of particular interest are programs that support the most underserved segments of the LGBT community, new and emerging needs and unique work, and organizational development. The Foundation will also consider funding programs of organizations not focused exclusively on the LGBT community if the number of LGBT clients served by the program is at least 50 percent. Deadlines are Feb. 1, June 1, and Oct. 1.
