America’s Promise 100 Best Communities For Young People

: Children, Youth & Families

The Program is an annual competition, which recognizes outstanding communitywide efforts that improve the well being of youth. The competition asks communities across the country to assess their challenges, work effectively together for young people, and share best practices. The selection criteria were developed with research conducted by the National Academies of Science, the Search Institute, and the Academy for Educational Development and Child Trends. Criteria used to determine winning communities includes: community support for children and youth; resources children and youth receive in the community; and innovative ideas used to improve the circumstances of children and youth in the community with an emphasis on policy, practice, and resources. Additional information as well as an online application is available on the Web site.
