American-scandinavian Foundation

Category: Arts & Culture

The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the American-Scandinavian Society, which promotes international understanding through educational and cultural exchanges between the United States and Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The Foundation promotes the cultures of the Nordic countries in the United States as well as American culture in the Nordic countries. It does this by encouraging programs that will enhance public appreciation of culture, art, and thought. The Foundation also administers a special fund for exchange projects between Norway and the United States. The Andrew E. and G. Norman Wigeland Fund: Norway to the U.S. considers projects that involve one-way exchanges from Norway to the United States. Preference will be given to projects that bring Norwegian citizens to the United States in an effort to enhance the American publicís appreciation of Norwegian life, art, and thought. The deadline for the Wigeland grant is Sept. 15, 2007.
