Union Pacific Foundation
The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Union Pacific Railroad. While a significant portion of the Foundationís giving is set aside for the signature giving program, The Principalsí Partnership, the Foundation has set aside a limited amount of funds through an annual grant application process for which organizations located in Company communities may apply. The Foundation has a strong interest in promoting organizational effectiveness. Much of its grantmaking is targeted toward capacity building, increasing organizational impact, operating efficiencies, and operational effectiveness. Of particular interest are programs that fall within three categories: community and civic, fine arts, and health and human services. Community and civic grants support museums, botanical gardens, public libraries, zoos, public television and radio, aquariums, and other organizations. Fine arts funding is given to those organizations with whom the Foundation has previously established a relationship. Health and human services grants assist organizations dedicated to improving the level of health care or providing human services in the community. Unsolicited requests from formal educational institutions such as colleges or universities are not accepted. Applications must be submitted online. Additional information including Company locations is available on the Web site.
