The Arthur B. Schultz Foundation
Category: General
DescriptionThe Foundation provides funding to projects and programs that address wildlands conservation, disabled mobility, disabled recreation, international microenterprise, and global understanding. Grants for wildlands conservation support the preservation and restoration of healthy ecosystems within the Yellowstone to Yukon region. Of particular interest are the core ecosystems of Greater Yellowstone northwest of Wyoming, southwest Montana, and eastern Idaho; the Salmon-Selway of central Idaho; and the Northern Continental Divide of northwest Montana. Disabled mobility grants are intended to ameliorate the overwhelming need for wheelchairs in the developing world with a special emphasis on wheelchair manufacturing and repair in Vietnam and Thailand. Disabled recreation grants support improved access for recreational enthusiasts with disabilities in America’s great outdoors with an emphasis on non-motorized backcountry and wilderness settings. International microenterprise grants support small-scale entrepreneurial projects in developing free market nations, which should be ecologically sustainable and provide economic diversification for local communities particularly in Vietnam and Honduras. Global understanding grants seek to promote peace, learning, and understanding among peoples of the world. The Foundation’s current focus is on improving primary school educational opportunities in Nepal, Vietnam, and Palestine and promoting dialogue between high school and university students from the Western and Muslim worlds.
