DescriptionFounded to honor the legacy of a Russian immigrant and his son, the Foundation supports the visual arts, animal welfare, and the environment in the Mid-Atlantic region, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Visual arts grants support nonprofits for visual arts programming and exhibitions. Animal welfare grants are awarded to no-kill shelters, sanctuaries, wildlife rehabilitation centers, animal adoption centers and animal protection organizations. Environmental grants support environmental organizations that promote sustainable resources management and innovative solutions to environmental problems; programs addressing climate change; pollution; and the use of land and water resources; community-based educational environmental initiatives; and community-based projects that enhance the quality of urban life through the development of parks and other environmental endeavors.
