DescriptionThe Canadian-based Foundation focuses its grantmaking on literacy. The largest Canadian national granting program for literacy, the Foundation?s Literacy Fund Grants are awarded to schools, and in some cases, educational organizations, in high-needs communities who are committed to fostering a love of reading and have a robust plan for how they would utilize new books and resources to enhance their vision. The Foundation works to improve school literacy infrastructure and inventory, enhance student literacy achievement, enhance student and educator skills, enhance community engagement, and enhance student school engagement. Eligible organizations must receive at least 80 percent of its funding from the provincial or federal government and serve students in at least one of the following grades: Junior Kindergarten, senior Kindergarten, and grades 1 through 8. Schools that do not have students in those grades or are not publicly funded are not eligible for a grant. Visit the Web site to learn more and for application instructions.
