California Council For The Humanities
The Councilís Youth Digital Filmmakers, supports projects that engage California youth in creating short films about how they see California. Each project will pair a local filmmaker, a humanities scholar, and a community-based organization in an effort to create humanities-based media that will be shown at community screenings and for wider distribution. The Council will fund projects in which youth explore the theme of connections or disconnections in their individual lives and communities. The applicant must be a California nonprofit or municipal/state agency or be sponsored by one. It must involve at least one experienced filmmaker or videomaker as a workshop leader/producer as well as a humanities scholar. And it must work with a teenage population, ages 14 to 19. Each grant request must be matched by at least an equivalent amount of cash or in-kind contributions from non-federal sources. The online application will be available on the Web site on March 1, 2007 and must be submitted by April 2, 2007. Mailed work samples and letters must be received in the San Francisco office no later than 5 p.m. on April 2.
