Sidney Hillman Foundation

: Arts & Culture

Since 1950, the Foundation has honored journalists, writers, and public figures who pursue investigative journalism and public policy in service of the common good. The Foundation was named for the founding president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America and an architect of the New Deal. The Foundation's Hillman Prizes honors journalists around the world whose work must have been intended for and widely accessible to a United States audience. Prizes are awarded in the following categories: book (nonfiction); newspaper journalism (story, series or multimedia; print or online); magazine journalism (longform; print or online); broadcast journalism (television, radio, or podcast; at least 20 minutes in total package length); and opinion and analysis journalism (commentary and analysis in any medium). Complete program guidelines and application instructions can be found on the Web site.
