The Foundation seeks to alleviate fear, pain, and suffering of animals and promote animal protection and the prevention of cruelty to animals. The Animal Protection grants focus only on cats in the United States and Canada, dogs outside of the United States (specifically Latin America or those living in First Nations/Native American communities, wildlife, marine life, sanctuary for captive wild animals, wildlife rehabilitation, and emergency funding for animal cruelty cases. Geographically, the Foundation awards grants in the Americas and the British Isles with a special emphasis on those communities which are the most underserved and the most challenged. In addition to its focus on animals, the Foundation also awards grants to research, promote, and document all facets of Texas history.
