DescriptionFounded by the heirs of Andrew Goodman, co-founder of Bergdorf Goodman department store, the Foundation awards grants to nonprofits throughout the United States, which facilitate progressive social change by addressing the underlying conditions of societal problems. Although the Foundation does not prioritize any specific issue for funding, it does focus on the types of activities and strategies an organization uses for creating social change in any number of areas including programs in education, arts and culture, the environment, and public health. The Foundation is particularly concerned with improving access to services and providing opportunities to those typically excluded. The application process begins with an initial letter of interest and, if invited, a full proposal. Some additional information can be found on the Web site.
