Description

Founded by businessman Kenneth Rainin who created multiple scientific and medical products companies, the Foundation's mission is to enhance the quality of life by championing the arts, promoting early childhood literacy, and supporting research to cure chronic disease. The Foundation envisions a world where all Oakland, Calif., children read at or above grade level, no one suffers from inflammatory bowel disease, and San Francisco Bay area artists thrive. Collaboration and innovation are at the heart of all the Foundation's programs and are guided by its commitment to change through inquiry, creativity, and compassion. Through its grantmaking, the Foundation embraces: interdependence, creativity, and equity. The Foundation does not have a letter of inquiry process: it welcomes requests via email or requests for exploratory conversations. Additional information can be found on the Web site.
