DescriptionThe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the department store Company. It has enriched communities throughout the South through generous financial support of various charitable, religious, educational, and other nonprofits. Based in Charlotte, NC, the Foundation invests in programs that fall within their two areas of focus: K-3 achievement and excellent teachers and teaching. The Foundation invests deeply in public education and is committed to supporting programs that produce measurable results for students in North Carolina, especially in the area of Charlotte-Mecklenburg. Historically, the Foundation awarded grants in additional communities, with recent funds going to organizations in Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL. But in 2016, the Foundation decided to focus its grantmaking efforts solely on the state of North Carolina. Additional information including application instructions can be found on the Web site.
